Re: BP Meds making BP too low?

I would give a call as well. my understanding is also that you want to maintain a consistent level as long as it's below 140/90 (some docs even have somewhat higher targets especially if you were really high before). Speaking only for myself, as a chronic who is normally maintained in the 115/75 ran...

Re: superimposed PET versus severe pre-e

Neither, really. Superimposed preeclampsia only means that you had preexisting hypertension (BP rose prior to 20 weeks of pregnancy). It isn't a descriptor of severity. Superimposed PE could be either mild or severe, according to the regular criteria (BP over 160/100, 24 hour protein over 5,000, I t...

Re: How often do you monitor your BP?

When I was doing it without any specific concerns, once a day, same time, to track changes from day to day. My OB was fine with this. (I would do it mid morning every day--I took my meds at bed time--and kept a log.) (I am a chronic hypertensive on meds, so I always monitor, though outside of pregna...

I agree with trish - please go into L&D if your symptoms worse or you have any concerns.

Re: Blood pressure going up at 24 weeks

Those are really some dramatic swings in BP (77/36 - ouch!) did they have any explanation for it, or show any concern?

Re: Blood pressure going up at 24 weeks

Hmm... Well my experience is limited. (I have never been on Medicaid for pregnancy though I know women who have.) I do know how hard it is to find providers that take Medicaid, and practices that do often rely heavily on midlevels. I know the FQHC I went to was primarily CNMs for OB/GYN. There may n...

Re: protein and blood pressures update from this appt below

I'm really glad you're heading in. I hate to say this, because I'm not an OB and don't love armchair quarterbacking that much, but I really don't like the sound of your OBs.

Re: protein and blood pressures

I would sit down with your doctor, explain that you are not comfortable with his/her current approach because of XYZ (high BP, proteinuria, positive fFN) and ask what his/her plans are for you. I would try to address my feelings of being blown off, so I could take clear steps. The doctor may be slap...

Re: List symptoms & complications PRE - preeclampsia ...

My BP rose very early (unmasked chronic). It was stable through to 32-33 weeks, then started slowly rising. I felt fine, though.
