You can tell hemolysis right away when the blood cells separate from the serum because the serum remains bright red instead of normally yellow. Without even measuring LDH, labs report on a "hemolysis index" as well.

It is also exciting because Congo red dye is a commonly used agent and is amazing how something so simple could aid in prediction. Buuuuut yep, still have a long way to go.
