Re: Pre-existing condition?

I honestly can't believe how complicated and expensive this insurance thing is in the US. I paid out of pocket for myself as a private patient in a public hospital and only had to pay the hospital accomodation costs ($220 per night in 2000/01). Dr's fees and radiology/pathology were all free. Unfort...

Re: Can NEC be contagious?

I thought you already asked this a while ago, if it wasn't you someone did so you could search for those responses...no, your things will be fine. Put them out in the sun for a while to freshen them up if you like, but you don't have to worry about passing on NEC. Edited to add link to mentioned pos...

Re: At what gestation are babies able to breastfeed?

I'd say it varies from baby to baby. My 37 weeker was slow to feed, he could do it but only for a few minutes at a time. We'd have to strip him naked, wake him with wet washcloths (it was summer), tickle his feet..anything we could to keep him awake so he'd get a full feed. My 33 weeker was first pu...

Re: My one-pound wonder is 10 years old!

Welcome back :) Wow, 10...doesn't the time fly! My first PE baby is 10.5 and the second is 6.5, I can't believe how big they are (and how old that makes me feel haha!). She must be tall...my 10yo is 66lbs, that being said my 6yo is 52lbs and she was the real preemie :) Congrats to Hannah on double n...

Re: Questions for near term moms

Congratulations :) It's been 10 years since I brought my first baby home so those feelings of panic have faded somewhat now ;) Don't stress too much about giving her your cold (if that's what it is), she will have antibodies from you from your breastmilk so will have some immunity. I managed to pick...

Re: Australians, where are you?

Hi Jess, I'm also from SA...NE suburbs of Adelaide. How are you feeling and how is your bp now? What is your follow up plan from here? Don't be afraid to go back to the hospital if you're at all worried about your symptoms. If you have any questions, I'm sure there is someone here who can answer alm...

Re: New Forum Member

I'm not sure if you have the right to ask to be seen by the consultant (sorry, of course you do have the right to ask but I don't know if they have to agree if your current condition doesn't require it in their opinion), but you most certainly have the right to a second opinion. I was able to reques...

Re: New Forum Member

Hi Rachael, I'm also in Oz (Adelaide) where are you located? Are you going public or private? I had my first baby private but it cost me a fortune and I ended up in the public hospital anyway so I went public with my second (more complicated) pregnancy so if you have any questions I may be able to h...
