Re : Coping with insensitive family members

<t>They took it better than we expected. <br/> <br/> Obviously we don't see them very much, so they had no idea. They are divorced, so we got two separate responses - his dad was like "I'm shocked! But congratulations!" and then later said he wanted to meet the baby [which is not going to happen at ...

Re : Infection Control With a Preemie

<t>Thanks for the advice! Caryn, no, we got no info at the hospital on keeping her healthy or her care in general [or on my care actually]. L&D was great, but the post partum nurses weren't as awesome. <br/> <br/> Shannon, thanks for the tips, especially that one about getting the earliest dr. a...

Infection Control With a Preemie

<t>I bet this topic has been covered many times, but I have gotten *no* advice or info from my Pediatrician about this and I am scared to death having a new preemie right at the beginning of cold and flu season... <br/> <br/> What steps should parents take to keep their preemies safe? <br/> <br/> We...

Re : steriod shots for 31 and half weeks

<t>I just wanted to back up what others are saying. I had the steroid shots at 32 weeks and I had my baby at 34 weeks [we expected to get farther than we did] and she was able to breathe on her own - no NICU time at all, and I know that was because of the steroids. <br/> <br/> I did have bad reactio...

Re : Preemies and Vaccines

Thank you all so much for the advice! TracyM - I can imagine they freaked out - my little one is just about 5lb 8 oz right now and her little legs look like sticks - how did they even find a muscle to stick?!

Re : Well I told my mom I'm pregnant... stupid me

<t>Oh my goodness! Su, this actually made me cry. I can't imagine anyone saying something so horrible to another person, much less their own daughter. <br/> <br/> I am so sorry. You deserve to rejoice in your pregnancy and this new life - and I hope you CAN do that and disregard your mother. What sh...

Re : Coping with insensitive family members

<t>I agree. We actually did not even tell DH's parents we were pregnant this time because we knew they would be so negative and horrible [from past experience]. He only told them about 3 days ago -the baby was almost 2 weeks old before he sent the birth announcement. NOW of course they are thrilled ...

Re : Beginning to question my doctor.....

<t>Again, not trying to scare you at all, but with my #5 pregnancy, I was afraid to "rock the boat" and I went along meekly with really bad medical care and ended up almost dying, having an eclamptic seizure, almost losing my baby, and dealing with brain damage for the first year post partum.... so,...

Re : Preemies and Vaccines

<t>Thank you so much ladies! [and for the other thread Caryn - I should have searched for that before I posted!]. <br/> <br/> I think we will go ahead and vaccinate on schedule then...easier for me to keep track of that way if it isn't a danger to Gemma!<br/> <br/> Jennifer - I have that Dr. Sears V...
