Re: New with questions

Hi Allison, That doctor sounds really bad. I can't believe she was going to send you home with those pressures and protein count! I also can't believe she simply stopped your medication cold-turkey in the hospital while your pressures were high. My BP stayed up for a long time after I delivered. I w...

Re: Question about GD

The comment does seem odd, but maybe he thinks he is just being realistic based on his experiences with other patients. "Dieting" can be bad during pregnancy, depending on what you mean by the term, but I don't think limiting sweets is a bad idea, whether or not you have gestational diabetes.

Re: Preeclampsia coverage in Pregnancy books

Thanks for pointing this out! I admit that I had never even heard of HELLP until after I had PE and read about it here. To this day I wonder if I had that, too, because my OB mentioned something about my liver enzymes being bad as another reason she thought it was time to deliver. She also referred ...

Re: Concerned at 35+2 wks

I agree with the others that you should at least call labor & delivery and speak with their on-call nurse. It may be inconvenient if they have you come in, but better safe than sorry. I was just in our hospital birth center on Tuesday getting checked out and the discharge paperwork they gave me spec...

Re: Pregnancy update and question

Thanks for the responses, ladies! I'm really glad I was just at the park and not at a store, MomTimesThree! I was near a spot next to the lake with lots of duck droppings, too, so even the puddle I left didn't look too out of place ;) Definitely no contractions so far, angieb, so I think it really w...

Pregnancy update and question

Yesterday I made it to 37 weeks PE free! This is the first time I have made it full term in a pregnancy, so I really don't know what to expect over the next two weeks (my c-section is scheduled for the 14th, they won't let me go past that), and yesterday I had a bit of a scare that I have a question...

Re: There is hope. Successful pregnancy after severe PE !

Very happy for you, congratulations! That's great that they discovered your kidney problem and were able to do something about it. Existing kidney disease is a risk factor for preeclampsia, so that certainly could have increased your likelihood of getting it the first time. I think if you get your b...

Re: will i make it to 36 weeks?

I have been taking baby aspirin since the beginning of my pregnancy, at the direction of my OB and MFM. I think the research is divided on whether or not it actually helps prevent PE, but I don't think there has been any evidence that shows it is dangerous. If you want to take it you should ask your...

Re: Is this really Pre E?

What have your blood pressures been like lately? There are other reasons for protein in urine, but if your blood pressures have been high and you have that much protein in your 24-hr urine then I would think that would be a positive diagnosis for preeclampsia. Other common reasons for high protein i...

Re: Ugggh!!!

JB, That is WONDERFUL the nicu your daughter was in enabled 24/7 rooming in for you. I didn't anticipate having an early baby so I didn't even consider going to another hospital in our area that has a brand-new nicu with this option. How long was your daughter in nicu? The blood clots scared me a b...
