Re: Red skin tone

Yes, Jacob gets really red too. They also told us it was normal but I don't know what causes it. My mother-in-law said that my husband was the exact same way when he was a baby.

Re: baby after loss

Congratulations on bringing Carter home! I have not suffered a loss. However, my son Jacob, was born at 34 weeks due to devere PE and was in the NICU for respiratory distress and other issues. So far I have been told two very reassuring things that have really helped me to relax. It used to scare me...

Re: Pumping

I felt the same way. My son was in the NICU and couldn't nurse at first so I was just pumping. I found it to be very frustrating and dissapointing. Of course its not at all the way you hope things will turn out. I just tried to take deep breaths and focus on the positives instead of focusing on the ...

Re: Off topic, but sad news

Are you in VA by chance? I didn't know the doctor personally but the doctor who over-saw my c-section 2 weeks ago had a partner who had just committed suicide. Just curious if you are talking about the same person and if we are in the same area.

Re: How long between diagnosis and delivery?

Yes, I did have the steroid shots. I started them the day that I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia which was at 32 weeks. I am hoping to make it a little longer too! So far, so good. I am glad that you were able to make it to term with both of yours!

Re: BP meds and Bedrest.....Still pre-e?

Same here. My understanding is that there is no way to prevent pre-e and the only real treatment for pre-e itself is delivery. They can treat the symptoms, like high bp temporarily, and hopefully buy the baby more time in the womb.

Re: How long between diagnosis and delivery?

Thank you for all of the responses! We had a scare yesterday. I went in for an appointment and my blood pressure had gone way up and the baby only scored a 2 on his bio physical profile. They sent us to the hospital and thought we would have to deliver. But at the hospital they got my bp down and re...

Re: Diagnosed @29 Weeks

"I wouldn't know what to do with a premie or sick baby." I was just diagnosed with pre-eclampsia a week ago and they let us take a tour of the NICCU. It was hard to do but very reassuring in the end. They explained that they give you lots of training before they send the baby home, including mandato...

Re: and it all feels real now

I don't have too many personal tips for you as I am new to this pre-eclampsia thing. However, I have been doing a lot of reading and what I have read says that only about half of people who have pre-eclampsia the first time have it in subsequent pregnancies. Out of those who do, its often not as sev...
