Re : particularly good article

<t>Lovely study!<br/> <br/> WRT the second pregnancies, isn't it Susan Fisher over at UCSF who speculates that the remodelled portion of the uterus from a prior pregnancy is easier for a new placenta to exploit than the bits that have never had a placenta attached to them? That might be another poss...

Re : how long until i have normal bp?

It took six months for mine to drop down enough to come off of the medications. At the six week pp check it was still 140/90ish on the meds.

Re : What are the statistics really like?

<t>I have a hard time buying the diet theory because I was *on that diet* throughout my pre-eclamptic pregnancy, and still ended up with a bp of 220/116 and a protein count of 17000+ at 34 weeks. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.<br/> <br/> So I tell everyone who asks me or who mentions the diet th...

Re : postpartum high bp, makes me concerned

<t>FWIW, I was also reading at 200+/100+ in the hospital, and went home on labetalol. About 6 months later they were able to wean me off of it. Honestly, I think time was the major factor in my recovery. I was breastfeeding, so I dropped weight fairly quickly, to 20+ pounds below my starting weight,...

Re : Question of the Day: memory loss

<t>I remember the entire thing toooooo clearly -- the conversation with the peri on admission, the nurse who sited my initial IV, the girl who came in with her mother the ultrasound tech because she'd accompanied her to work that day and the time I spent assuring her that the odds were *her* pregnan...

Re : Question of the Day: Diet and PE

<t>I was actually *on* the Brewer diet from before day one -- my midwife suggested it during a preconception consult. I guess maybe I would have gone to 25 weeks if I *hadn't* been on it, but still a case of severe PE at 34 weeks is not exactly a ringing endorsement.<br/> <br/> I suspect most of the...

<t>I was +3 with one beat of clonus while on the mag -- and like some other people have said, the medical personnel kept saying things to me like, "You're not acting magged out. You should be more drugged. Why are you so alert?"<br/> <br/> <br/> Caryn<br/> DS Oscar born 10/20/02 at 34 weeks, rapid-o...

<t>First off, congratulations on your little boy -- I'm so pleased to hear that he's doing well!<br/> <br/> As for the increase in her blood pressure; yeah, you have to remove the placenta to get better, but it doesn't always happen instantly. Severe endothelial damage can take some time to heal. 24...

Re : Question of the Day: Diet and PE

<t>I ate really well -- lots of veggies, lots of whole grains, lots of lean protein, no caffeine to speak of, no alcohol, ice cream maybe 4 times... I was in fact quite proud of myself for eating so well because surely it would keep me healthy. [:I] I was really, really hungry throughout and made su...
