Re: What does it mean to be an "empowered patient"?
I fluctuate between being okay with the lack of communication I received from my medical caregivers to being extremely frustrated. At 38 weeks I was medically induced due to pre-e. I was told that I was “very sick†with “severe†pre-ecplampsia. I didn’t ask any questions and barely process...

Re: Mentally replaying birth?
Hi again, k-bug, my story is almost identical to yours except a few more hours of mag pre-birth and my son was sent to the NICU after he was born. My beautiful son is now 7 months and I still have days where I replay his birth--over and over again. I did find a new therapist and she's helped me work...

Re : Mentally replaying birth?
<t>Thanks again. It does help to know I'm not alone. The desire for a "do over" is intense, especially since the memory of my son's birth is so fuzzy. I saw a therapist twice. She works at my OB/GYN's office & I was hopeful. However, she was young and inexperienced and also didn't "get it." She ...

Re : Mentally replaying birth?
<t>Thanks ladies, <br/> What also makes this hard is that my son is our last baby; we've always wanted two children. I don't want another child, but I want a "do over." I want to labor again. Despite the preeclampsia, I enjoyed delivering our son. I didn't start to panic about everything until after...

Mentally replaying birth?
<t>Hi, <br/> I was induced 3 months ago due to a sudden onset of PE; I had no edema or any other noticeable sympton. The PE was caugt at a routine 38 week exam. My doctor gave me two hours to get to the hospital to be induced. I had low platelets, etc. all the HELLP symptoms. I felt fine so it was s...

Re : medical records/postpardum
<t>For those of you that got your medical records, who did you go to for them? I tried to get them from the hospital and they told me that my basic records said I had a "normal" delivery. Uh, no. To get more information, they said I would have to pay. They also told me the nurses must have hand-writ...

Re : does anyone else feel like this?
<t>I am so thankful that I'm not alone in this. My son is almost 3 months and I think of his birth daily. I think the sudden onset of the PE and HELLP still has me reeling. The magnesium sulfate made me fuzzy-headed, so much of his birth is a blur. I want so hard to hold onto memories of the experie...
