Re : Goodbye Daycare, hello quarentine

<t>Sorry that daycare didn't work out, but it sounds like a nanny is the right thing for you. My son's first winter, he was too sick to even hire a nanny. He would have required a medical aide, which we couldn't afford. I stayed home and we were quarantined, too, until April. We went from September ...

My 7-year-old has Hashimoto's

<t>He's tiny and always has been. He weighs 33 pounds and is 37 inches tall. Definitely the smallest in his class by far. Weight and growth have been issues since birth. But in August, the pediatric endocrinologist finally found a failing thyroid. It was such a relief to finally have an answer to hi...

Re : sensory issue with my 8 year old?

I definitely agree that an OT and psychological evaluation seem appropriate. My son has sensory issues, but he has had them from birth. I see them getting better, not worse. I'm also concerned that she's worried about her weight at such a young age.
Anyway, good luck figuring it out!

Re : Kindergarten

<t>We had a very similar choice with our son, who has a late May birthday. It's a long story, but he kept getting pushed through the system even though I didn't think he was ready. I wasn't so terribly worried about him academically as I was about his immaturity. But the teachers kept telling me tha...

For older preemies with ADHD - treatment

<t>I have a 28-weeker who will be seven in a few months. His teacher and I have been in close contact this year and although he has not been officially diganosed by his doctor yet, we both think he has ADHD. (I have an older daughter with ADD, so I'm well-versed in the disorder). Anyway, he's still ...

Re : Growth Curve for IUGR Babies

<t>Hi,<br/> I am late in responding to this, but it is exactly the question I had on my mind tonight! My son is 5 1/2 and still at -10th percentile (yes, 10% below the growth curve). He had major feeding/oral aversions/reflux for the first two and a half years, so it made sense that he was so small....

Late potty training

<t>Hi,<br/> This post is similar to the previous post about potty training, but a little different so I decided to start a new thread. My son is going to be five next month and is still not potty trained. His issue, however, isn't speech/language related. I actually don't know what the problem is. H...

Re : Not urinating

<t>Thanks to all of you who responded. It's been a crazy couple of weeks. The little guy did finally pee - on the fifth day! The doctors had called the parents to the bedside on the third day and told them he wouldn't make it through the day. They did that for two more days. He lived another five da...

Not urinating

<t>Hi all,<br/> I'm hoping someone can help me. A friend of mine recently gave birth to a 25-weeker. He had the PDA surgery on Saturday and has not urinated yet. The doctors are frantic today and telling her he might not make it if he doesn't pee. I know that with my son, on the third day after birt...

Re : adhd?

<t>My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD two years ago. She was struggling so much with impulse control and physically hurting other children. She is extremely distractable, though somhow able to get good grades. We did put her on medication and it was the best decision we made as a family. I struggle...
