New dietary supplement study? (L-arginine)

I looked around a bit and didn't see anything that was obviously about this study: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/05/110519202720.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Latest+Science+News%29 . Has there been discussion yet? Caryn? :)

Re: What would you want doulas to know?

Thank you - both of you! This doula group is through the organization I took my childbirth education classes through, have attended playgroups through, etc. etc. I personally know at least a few of the dozen or so birth doulas that will be there. So I'm pretty comfortable, but I want to give a reall...

Re: What would you want doulas to know?

a) Epidurals lower blood pressure and expand plasma volume, so they are often a good thing for PE mothers as they probably lower risk of stroke b) abruption is a much higher risk, so expect docs to mention it as a risk and to proactively monitor for it. Fetal monitors are therefore often a good thi...

What would you want doulas to know?

I am talking to a group of birth doulas (and possibly some postpartum) about preeclampsia at the beginning of March. What information about preeclampsia do you wish all doulas knew? What specific actions would you want a doula to take for a mom with preeclampsia? I'm thinking in regards to helping c...

Re: Anyone pregnant & breastfeeding?

I did! I'm now nursing both my boys - my baby is almost 4 months old and my toddler will be 3 at the end of March. Eek! He's not really a toddler anymore! It's been a really wonderful experience for me (mostly). And I think it's a big reason why my older son has never had a shred of jealousy - he is...

Had my baby - and ? about postpartum preeclampsia

<t>I gave birth to Anders Pierce on September 30th. 39w 5d and NO PREECLAMPSIA DIAGNOSIS. I even got to leave the hospital after just over 24 hours. No IVs. I was only at the hospital less than an hour before he was born. Labor was what I would call easy and delivery was less than 5 minutes (as my d...

Call doctor's service...or wait until tomorrow?

<t>I was on strict bedrest for a week, started Labetalol, and have been on restricted activity (getting myself in bed any time my blood pressure is slightly high) for a month.<br/> <br/> My blood pressure has been 140/90 or higher for about 16 hours. I decided not to call on a Sunday because it's no...

Re : If I hear another thing about salt...

<t>I actually do have to watch my salt (really really strictly) because my blood pressure is really sensitive to sodium due to my underlying kidney issue. It's obviously not that sodium could cause preeclampsia. It's that in me, specifically, it would elevate my blood pressure and cause a diagnosis ...
