Re : protein number specifics?

<t>My wife's OB told her above 300 mg was the diagnosis for mild PE, above 5000 mg was severe PE. Her protein roughly doubled every week, and she was able to continue the pregnancy almost four more weeks after reading 280. It seems everyone is different with their progression though. Keep all your a...

Re : Preemie Check-in

<t>Just wanted to update everyone on Benjamin Aidan who was born last Saturday, the 22nd. He was a 33 weeker, at 3 lbs 6 oz. He has been doing great in the SCN; was on CPAP for about 18 hr, then graduated to the step down unit. He had his first weight gain yesterday, and is back over 3 lbs. Has been...

rest of the story

<t>Hi everyone<br/> <br/> Thanks for all of your support. Mom and baby are still doing well although they haven't seen each other since the c/s. That should hopefully happen this afternoon when she is off the Mg.<br/> <br/> Anyway, just wanted to give a few more details. Laura was diagnosed at 29 wk...

The story so far..cont'd...(happy birthday!)

<t>Laura gave birth today at 33 wk, due to HELLP. Caught very early thankfully, she is doing well. Baby boy (name to be determined) was 3 lbs 6 oz, also doing well. Came out crying, got an 8 and 9 APGAR. Is now in SCN, breathing on his own, CPAP, 25% O2. I will post more details later, it has been a...

BP meds

If you had BP meds prescribed, at what point did the doctor order them? Was there a number your doctor determined meds were necessary, or were they prescribed because of other symptoms (blood work, headaches, etc.)?

Thanks,
Brian

Re : the story so far...

<t>My wife received the bethamethasone shots when she was first admitted at 29w 2d. Her OB recommended a rescue injection if she did not deliver within 4 weeks (this coming Tuesday). However, from everything I've read second doses are not recommended. The OB was understanding when we mentioned we we...

Re : NICU or SCN?

<t>Thankfully the two hospitals are not that far from each other. Maybe 20 minutes at the most. So in a scenario where transfer is required, it wouldn't be ideal, but it would be not as stressful as an airlift.<br/> <br/> The Level II hospital has MFMs on call, which is one of the reasons we are lea...

Re : NICU or SCN?

Our OB told us she had a chance to discuss our case with the Neo at the hospital with the Level II. They said they are confident they can handle things there, so for now we'll plan on using them

Thanks for all the helpful advice.

Re : the story so far...

<t>Thanks! One thing that concerns us, is how bad do they let things get before they deliver. Reading your history, it sounds like things got pretty serious. At what point did they admit you to the hospital? <br/> <br/> <br/> quote:Originally posted by hhbeachgurl<br/> <br/> Just wanted to say welco...

the story so far...

<t>Just wanted to post and introduce ourselves, since we've been lurking here for the past three weeks.<br/> <br/> At 29wk 2d appt, my wife had a bp of around 135/98 and a +3 dip. Her OB was quite concerned, sat us down and explained about pre-eclampsia. She prepared us for the possibility that a C-...
