Re : a friend with 2 cp boys shared some info

<r>Not trying to scare anyone here, my son has CP and I've spoken with other mom's of CP kids. None of us have had a favorable experience with it and just recently this was published:<br/> <br/> FDA Warns Of Botox Death Risk<br/> <br/> "The FDA said the deaths it is investigating so far all involve ...

Re : Parents of toddler preemies or older...

<t>1. My son had grade 2 brain bleeds and CP really isn't ruled out until later. There are many preemies who are diagnosed years later with this if it's mild. It's a waiting game.<br/> 2. My son is 10 months old as well, former 27 weeker, 1lb. 11oz. No he's not close to sitting up. :) My other daugh...

Re : when are platelet levels dangerous?

<t>No, it was because of my liver enzymes. If they hit that high you run the risk of your liver rupturing or other damage to your liver. The pain associated with it is quite intense as well so that's why upper right quadrant pain or right shoulder pain with it is an indicator that something is happe...

Re : when are platelet levels dangerous?

<t>Well, my blood platelets were at 109 and the doctor was very clear that if they dropped below 100 they would immediately deliver the baby by c-section. They wouldn't let me leave the hospital, but I think they were taking a very conservative approach with me as my blood pressure was 170/110's + r...

Re : Coordination issues - UPDATE FROM 4/30 OT appt.

<t>My former 32 weeker is 6 and has always had coordination issues. Especially fine motor skills. She can't button her pants, shoe-tying is just not anywhere in the near future, holding a pencil is hard for her and more. I'll say this, but we tried to put her in dance... umm, won't be doing that aga...

Re : Your story - Slow onset / Fast onset of PE??

<t>My blood pressure had been elevated (160's + over 100 +'s) for 2 weeks and I had swelling where I gained 15 lb. in 2 weeks. But besides that, was feeling okay. The day I delivered I crashed very quickly. The intense pain that started at 6:00 pm resulted in an emergency c-section by 10 pm. My bloo...

Re : How do you handle comments?

It happens on both ends. My 6 year old looks like an 8/9 year old and we've always gotten comments as well. Factor in she was a 32 weeker and the stares get even more strange. ;)

Re : Preemie Check-in

<t>Fun thread.<br/> <br/> All right, my 6 1/2 year old girl is a former 32 weeker is a giant. Born at 4lb. 8oz. (so she was big even then) and 17" long. NICU stay was 22 days. On a vent for 3 days. Just got glasses for near-sightedness. I do wonder if it's prematurity related. She's 51 inches tall (...

Re : Does every preeclampsia baby have IUGR?

I have big babies but did have IUGR with one of them. A 32 weeker weighing 4lb. 8oz. A 36 weeker weighing 7lb. 2oz. (both girls). Then there's my poor little boy ;) He was definitely IUGR from restricted flow at 27 weeks weighing 1lb. 11oz. He should have been into the 2lb. range by then.
