Re : Totally Freaking Out

<t>Wow - I'm in the same boat. We had PE/IUGR on the first pregnancy; the second was HELLP and much, much worse. Peris wanted to tie my one pathetic remaining tube left during my emergency c-section. I declined (thinking I was in no state to make such a decision), but we were very careful. Lo and be...

Re : What can I do?

<t>You are NOT overreacting. I'm surprised your OB is not acting more quickly. I had preeclampsia with my first. When they discovered low amniotic fluid and IUGR, I was hospitalized in the L&D floor with 24-hour monitoring for 4 weeks! In this last pregnancy, I developed HELLP. Let me tell you t...

Re : IVF & Preeclampsia

<t>I did not have IVF my first child and had PE. I DID do IVF for our second and got PE and HELLP. I've wondered if that contributed to being so much worse the second pregnancy when they say usually its better the second time around. Perhaps I will be a good case study, I just found out 2 days ago t...

Re : Home Protein Urine Tests?? Keytones?

<t>I just went through this very thing. They are NOT the same thing. The pharmacists thinks when you say protein, that you're talking about the Atkins diet and want to see if you're in ketosis -- they actually said that to my husband and mocked him when he tried to explain what he was talkng about. ...

Re : How can I convince my peri to do this?

<t>Just tell him straight out that you would feel more comfortable seeing him at least every other week. Frankly, I'm surprised that you are not being put on that schedule. At a minimum, the reassurance that you get from the visit will do you good and they should understand that. I have had to push ...

Re : Update! I'm home! YEAH!!!

<t>Yeah!! Let me tell you from experience, DO NOT do more at home. I did that twice. My bp started to rise at 24 weeks. I was finally put on labetelol at 29 weeks and it brought it down. I thought, great, now I can do more around the house and work on getting the nursery ready. I didn't really do al...

Re : New to Board

Kristi,

I was wondering if you could tell me your bp med history with this pregnancy. Drs are still trying to figure our right dosage and meds for me and we're at the beginning stages. I'm interested in what worked and didn't work for you.

thanks!

Re : Arrgghh -- how does the L&D nurse take your bp?

<t>Julie - yes, last night I told the nurse I didn't want to talk to her anymore and I wanted to talk to the doctor directly. All night I asked when he would come down and there was excuse after excuse. Finally when she came in at 1:00 a.m to discharge me, I said I'd like to talk to the dr before I ...

Re : Arrgghh -- how does the L&D nurse take your bp?

<t>Thanks for all of your replies and references to the article and other discussions -- those will help me with my next appointment. Besides my experience with PE, my dad has lots of high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems, so I am very familiar with his care and how his doctors have instru...
