Pregnant again - happy and scared at the same time

I am pregnant with my 2nd baby. I am happy because my husband and I have always played with the idea of having a 2nd baby but we didn't really have concrete plans of trying to conceive. It just happened. Then the reality of possibly experiencing pre-E all over again hit me. It made me scared. I don'...

Re: Paranoid - From Pre-e to chronic hypertension

It's been a while since I posted. I just want to update you all of my status. I am 8 months PP and I am down to 1 BP medication instead of 2. I was taking Metoprolol and Amlodipine. For a month now, I am taking just the Amlodipine and my doctor wants me to continue taking it for 6 more months then h...

Re: Still Swollen and high blood pressure at 9 days postpart

My swelling went down about 2 weeks post partum. The doctor also gave me some kind of leggings (i can't remember the term) but they reduced the swelling. Regarding blood pressure, I stayed in the hospital for 8 days because my blood pressure was also high at 150/110. They released me with medication...

Re: Daughter autopsy report back

I am so sorry for your loss. It is indeed very very heartbreaking.
My baby's heartrate also slowed down before delivery that's why they had to induce me. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck but luckily she survived.
Hugs to you. I am crying right now as I am writing this.

Re: Sex life of a chronic hypertensive person

brandib - With a BP of 140/90, I could feel my heart beating hard and fast and my legs and my jaw would be trembling. My body doesn't seem to be comfortable at that blood pressure level. I was prescribed Norvasc (10 mg) and Metoprolol Extended Release Succinate (150mg). Initially, I had Labetalol in...

Re: BP monitors - any good or bad ones?

The brand that I'm using is LifeSource. It's digital automatic blood pressure monitor. It's very accurate in the sense that the digits i'm getting at home are not far from the readings at the doctor's office.

Re: At what point did you receive Magnesium?

I received Mag several hours after my emergency C-section. My BP was normal for a while because of the epidural anesthesia. Then hours after delivery, I told the nurse that I was feeling dizzy, like I was drunk, and I was seeing double. She checked my BP, it was 190/115. That's when they gave me Mag

Sex life of a chronic hypertensive person

I am now considered chronic since my BP didn't go down 6 weeks post partum. It's been 2 months since I had my baby and I am happy to say that she is doing well and very healthy. I am on BP medications and I have been quite depressed ever since the traumatic experience on PE and the hypertension. The...

Re: BP issues one year PP

There are many reasons why your BP goes up. It may or may not be related to your pregnancy. It may be your lifestyle (though I know you said you're trying to lose weight), heredity, or some underlying reasons. I started with a low dose of BP medication too - 100 mg of metoprolol. Then after a week, ...
